2024 Pinot Noir
Vineyard: Biodynamic Lubiana Estate Derwent valley Vineyard: A blend of the close planted block (5 year old) clay over chalk, lower alluvial pinot block (25 year old) mudstone/sand, and some higher up clay/chalk pinot blocks (16 year old) clay over gravel/chalk. A large diversity of clones from these blocks I grow on the estate.
The 2024 season in a nutshell was a return to normal conditions, coming off a very cool and mild 2023 season. The spring/early summer was fairly typically with rain and sunshine - not too hot or cold. This led into a dry warm summer most days in the mid to high 20’s. Harvest was a little early for some blocks of pinot, due to the dry conditions. All the grapes were hand sorted/ picked with the majority of the grapes picked in the middle of March 2024. The fruit was very clean and I was very happy with the quality. The winemaking was very easy as the fruit was in fantastic condition. The pinot noir from 2024 had much better phenolic ripeness compared to 2023, therefore, more whole bunch was incorporated into the winemaking. The proportion sitting around the 50% mark. I used a touch more oak, with around 15% new oak barriques. These have given the wine more tannin and perfume. I believe this wine will age well given this structure and tannin profile. If drinking early I would recommend a decant. Little to no sulphur used in the fermentation, 100% wild yeast, one racking in spring, 12 months in French oak barrels (228L), bottled unfiltered on site. Free sulphur around 25ppm.
Shipping - Minimum order 3 bottles. 3-5 bottles $25. 6 bottles or more FREE shipping Australia wide.
